The Cupcake 5k is 5k race that is all about personal victories and fighting cancer! Our little hometown race is growing every year, doubling in numbers in each since it started in 2011 and selling out every year weeks in advance! It's the passion of the race directors and the particpants together that make this race so special to everyone involved!

While Victoria helped her husband, Shane from the very beginning, she did not take on the role of Assistant Race Director until the third year of the event in 2013. Vicki owns her own appraisal business and is the co owner of Roanoke Island Running Company

 

Vicki enjoys running, having completed 16 half marathons and just completed her first marathon here in her hometown of Manteo in 2013.

 

 

Shane is a cancer survivor who started running after his treatments were through. An Avid runner, Shane enjoys running marathons and ultra's, challenges he says that are always fueled by his surviving this awful disease. He now dedicates a great deal of his time to helping others and is the owner of a new running store in Manteo, NC - Roanoke Island Running Company.

 

The Cupcake 5k was brought to him in 2010 as an idea for part of a local fundraiser and he took the challenge and never looked back!
